iOS and Android growth stall in July as BlackBerry stabilizes

Research In Motion (RIMM) got some bad news this week as user interface magician and The Astonishing Tribe founder Hampus Jakobsson quit to explore new opportunities, but now it?s time for some good news: RIM stopped bleeding usage share in July. According to market research and analytics firm Net Applications, RIM?s share of the smartphone and tablet operating system market basically stayed flat in July at 1.86%. iOS?s rapid growth slowed to less than half a point last month, and Android usage grew by less than half a point as well. Symbian somehow managed to tick up a tenth of a point in July, and Java was the biggest loser, dropping to 9.11% from 10.22% in June.
