A group of Sports Education and Development Australia (SEDA) students have raised $350 for the Cancer Council Victoria, after running a successful day of tennis for primary school students.

The Tennis Showdown was held at Melbourne Park on Wednesday 29 August and was organised by SEDA students Jake Mutton, Robert Hilbig, Sean Berry and Andrew Hopkins.

Close to 70 St Josephs Northcote Primary School students from grades three to six participated in the Tennis Showdown, which involved a range of activities including an MLC Tennis Hot Shots lesson, a tour of Melbourne Park, a free hitting session and various tournaments and games. There were also a number of prizes and giveaways for everyone involved.

Danielle Lowerson, Tennis Victoria?s MLC Tennis Hot Shots Coordinator, oversaw the project and said the SEDA students did a great job.

?I was highly impressed with their professionalism and ability to put on such a successful day of tennis for these kids,? said Lowerson.

?All of the kids involved had a great time and some even experienced tennis for the first time.?

The SEDA program works closely with Tennis Victoria to give students the opportunity to combine their passion for tennis with an education pathway through the Sport and Recreation industry.
