Many motorists may find that their car insurance policies may become invalid if they have poor eyesight.
A recent survey conducted by a leading opticians has found that a quarter of drivers find it difficult to make out a vehicle?s number plate from 20.5 meters, even if there are good conditions.
This research was carried out on 160 drivers at the Royal Highland Show this year by qualified opticians. The company pointed out that motorists can be punished for driving with poor eyesight.
They commented that many drivers don?t realise that if they can?t read a number plate from the legal distance of 20.5 meters (about the length of five cars) in good light, then they are committing an offence which could invalidate their car insurance policy.
It is important to know what is legal and what is illegal when driving, such as what on your car needs to be working perfectly in order to make it legal for you to drive it. Making sure that you have read your car insurance policy carefully is essential as it also allows you to see what is included in your policy. This could also mean that you need to compare car insurance policies in order to get a better deal or just cheap motor insurance.
Another survey released recently has found that lorry and taxi drivers get fewer hours sleep than any other workers in the UK, roughly 6 hours and 15 minutes according to Road Transport. This lack of sleep could have a negative affect on their eyesight and also their concentration.
